   Learn more about DivX

How do our DivX Media Downloads work?

Subject to meeting all the DivX system requirements as listed below, you’ll be able to either watch a movie straight away (progressive download) or download it to your computer’s hard drive for subsequent viewing. Films are downloaded within the media manager of your DivX player and can either be watched while downloading or accessible for subsequent viewing. You must be logged into your free DivX account prior to downloading and may be asked to login if before commencement. Once you pay for a licence for any given Film, it’ll then authorize the download to your player. The licence will determine what you can do with the Film e.g. whether it’s a Rental (will play for 5 days) or a Retail version (No expiry time). You’ll be able to pause but won’t be able to fast-forward until the whole film has been downloaded.

What are the system requirements for DivX Media Downloads?

Mac or PC - You’ll need to be using a PC with a Windows XP or Vista operating system and Microsoft Media Player, version 9 or above. Or Mac requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. You’ll also need sufficient RAM which will be dependent on what other programs you’re running – 512mb RAM (processing power) minimum. Available Hard Disc space of at least 2gb as most Films are between 1 and 2gb. Please note, we recommend deleting Rental Films after viewing to free-up Disc space.

Which Internet Browser do I need to use for DivX Media Downloads?

DivX is compatible with any browser, subject of course to having the free player installed and setting up your Free Divx account.

Can I transfer my DivX Film to another machine or device?

Yes, if it’s a DivX certified device which you’ve registered from your DivX player. You can register up to six certified devices from your player for FREE. This, for instance, enables you to burn to disc and play back on your certified DVD player or wirelessly stream to your TV via a certified wireless router. Please refer to the DivX website for a complete listing of certified devices, which includes hardware from most major manufacturers e.g. the LG Viewty mobile handset or up-coming range of LCD TVs which have USB 2 ports to simply plugin your drive! The latest firmware upgrade for PS3 also includes DivX certification.
