Documentary Made in 1968 but only now available, having been previously banned! The last film shown at the 1968 Cannes festival which was shutdown in soladarity with the student revolts in Paris. The students adopted this Film and screened it in the vast amphitheatres of the Sorbonne, which was still besieged by riot police. At the centre of the film is the iron grip the Catholic Church held on Ireland after British occupation – it wasn’t actually banned in Ireland as it contains no sexual content, but had a brief short run in a Dublin Cinema – further evidence of the vice-like grip of the Church at the time! Directed by Peter Lennon. 70 mins.
