Set in South Africa during the time of the Truth and Reconciliation hearings (which involved Apartheid-era soldiers and cops admitting their crimes and summarily being absolved of them) - a Police officer files an amnesty application for a member of the South African Parliament who can't remember the torture he once endured as a captive political activist. A South African-born attorney, meanwhile, returns to her homeland to represent him, as well as his friend who is arrested along with him but never heard from again.
