François Chenu was killed by three young men in a pointless attack motivated by hate. This considered and respectful film documents some of the aftermath of his death - the steps that French society takes to achieve justice via the courts and the incredible efforts his family make to feel a personal sense of justice and peace. As the case against his attackers develops, their affiliation with a far-right group emerges, as do details of their dysfunctional backgrounds. The heart of this film, however, is with the family, who decide they must move away from feeling blind hatred for their son's killers. Their pride in François, who they know would never have denied his homosexuality - even if doing so would have kept him safe - becomes the basis for their recovery.
