Despite All That is a strange, black sexual comedy that deals with a couples slow flirtation with madness and perversion. The woman, Naoko, spends her time cutting vegetables and herself while having Lesbian encounters with suicidal school girl, Kimiko. Her husband, Yoshio, begins an affair with the same school girl and the menage-a-trios then begins to dissintegrate as each of their fragile egos begins to fall apart.
Despite All That is a clever, and at times highly erotic example of contempory Japanese Pink Cinema which successfully manages to blend the sensual with the bizarre.
