Alien: Directors Cut  12a

Category: Sci-fi
Run time: 110 minutes
Director: Ridley Scott
Starring: Ian Holm, Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt

The crew of the mining ship Nostromo are woken from hypersleep when the vessel intercepts an SOS signal from a far-off beacon. Going to investigate, one member of the team, Kane, is impregnated by an alien creature which then explodes from the human host's stomach. As the organism grows in size and strength, it begins picking off the crew one by one, until only Ripley and her cat Jones are left to banish the dreaded alien into deepest space. Released to celebrate Alien's 24th birthday, this version of the film about a creature killing the crew of a spaceship one by one is barely different from the original. A director's "cut" in the literal sense of the term, this trims a minute off the original movie's running time. While restoring a few deleted scenes such as Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and Dallas (Tom Skerritt) arguing about the ship's quarantine procedures, Scott also throws in a few sequences in the medical lab, and the moment Ripley discovers the cocooned remains of her former crewmates.
